How much should you feed your dog?
Cups are meaningless without the calories behind them. Enter your dog's weight, life stage, and the kcal-per-cup on the bag, and get a daily target in calories, cups, and cups per meal.
| Weight | 20.4 kg (45 lb) |
| Resting energy | 672 kcal/day (70 × kg0.75) |
| Life-stage factor | × 1.6 |
| Treat allowance | 108 kcal/day (10%) |
| Food from the bowl | 968 kcal/day ÷ 380 kcal/cup |
This is the standard starting estimate vets use, not a prescription. Individual dogs vary by 20–30% either way; check body condition monthly (ribs easy to feel, visible waist from above) and adjust by about 10% at a time. Puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs, and dogs with medical conditions need a vet's number.
You have the right portion. Pawlo runs it.
Getting the number right is the easy half. The reason dogs gain weight on a correct portion is the second breakfast — two people, one dog, and no shared record of who already fed him.

- You assume it got done
- The dog can get fed — or dosed — twice
- Blank by Wednesday, gone by next week
In Pawlo — free
- The same plan live on every phone in the house
- Smart reminders at your real per-task times
- A name and a time on every completed task
- A warning before a second meal or med goes in
